today is my sister’s birthday, and this is one of the pieces i made for her. when she and my brother were little, one of their favorite things to do was take plastic shopping bags into the backyard and release them into the wind (sort of like string-less kite flying). then they would run between the front and back yards to catch the bags and do it all over again. it’s a fond family memory.
happy birthday, hilary!

sketches for my next mini, tentatively titled “rememberies.” i harbor a lot of childhood experiences and skewed understandings of things that have happened to or around me, so the mini is an experiment in trying to adequately and accurately tell those memories to other people while also taking into consideration the faults of my own brain. stories will possibly include:

-the only fight i’ve ever been in
-a period of my life when i was really into pulling out my teeth
-a funny game of telephone
-a timeline of my life in terms of the rodents i’ve know/interacted with

and maybe some one-page stories about how i used to think kissing in movies and television shows worked, or how i used to believe that if you breathed in a bad smell it would make your breath smell the same way.

no ideal completion date yet. just as soon as i can get it figured out and finished.

i’m about six pages into my pencils for rememberies. gotta kick it into high gear if i want it ready for CAKE. this is a panel from a story about pulling out my teeth when i was a kid.
posts will probably continue to be slow, but i’ll keep sharing samples from the new mini until its release in june!
